Proverbs 31 The wife of Noble Character

So some of you may be thinking to yourselves why is she writing about being a wife of noble character when she is a single woman? Well allow me to further explain. This morning during my study time, I was reading the word in Proverbs and God led be to this chapter. I've read this chapter many times before, but God allowed me to read it this morning with fresh eyes. He gave me such wonderful insight I had to share it with all of you!
One of the strongest verses in this passage is verse 12...."She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life." This verse always gets to me. I always think, "I'm I honoring my future husband with my behavior of today?" Because this verse clearly says a woman shall honor her husband all the days of her life, not just when they marry and from that point on, but all the days. Yes even those days of her not knowing him. That is showing the ultimate form of respect. The same kind of respect we would show to our heavenly father.
Going on.... the passage begins to describe a woman who is hard working, feeds her family, and is wise with money. Verse 20, "She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy." This is a lady who has a heart for serving others. She shows compassion and love to even the lowest of people. Because she recognizes the fact that she is nothing but a messenger for Christ, and will go to all lengths to spread his love to others.
This is a woman who does not live in the world, but in God's plan for her life. Verse 28, " Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." This would be my greatest honor to live a life completely sold out to Christ that my very children and husband would one day call me blessed!
As you can see this is not a life you begin to lead once there's a wedding ring on your left hand. No, this is a life you begin to live now! A life that honors and loves God, one that does not bring Him shame. Ladies, I know we all want to live the best lives we could possibly live. But don't live it for your husband, future husband, boyfriend, or yourself. Live it unto the Lord, and all the days of your life will be blessed!
